We are looking for a  Team Leader Medicinal Chemistry  - Mechelen,BE

Core Purpose of Job:

As an expert member of a research team, you are  expected to lead teams providing scientific direction and prioritizing work. Highly qualified in your own area, you are  able to interpret and analyze data in order to give tactical guidance to the project team. You are expected to provide managerial support to junior members of the team by motivating and empowering each individual.

We would like you to:

  • Lead medicinal chemistry teams to successful project progression. Design new compounds, based on multi-parameter optimisation.
  • Actively collaborate with other areas of expertise to bring the project at the next stage.
  • Organize your team workload and resources according to the requirement of projects.
  • Provide scientific direction and mentoring junior members of the Medicinal Chemistry Department.
  • Motivate and guide individuals’ career development.
  • Support Group Leader and Head of Department in operational responsibilities

Job requirements

Who are you?

  • Ph.D. in organic/medicinal chemistry followed by post-doctoral training or relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with proven track record of Medicinal Chemistry contributions and experience in leading medicinal chemistry projects.
  • Ability to bring new ideas and have strong creativity to tackle challenging issues
  • Maintain a strong awareness of the relevant scientific literature and contemporary laboratory practices
  • Ability to adapt in terms of novel priorities and to make constructive recommendations
  • Able to delegate, motivate and empower people
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills in English is a must
