We are looking for an enthusiastic, inspiring and highly motivated Team Leader Compound Evaluation - Mechelen,BE

 

Your role

As a biologist with expertise in biochemical and cellular biology, you will lead the compound evaluation team (CET). The CET team is composed of scientists and lab technicians providing support to all Hit-to lead and Lead optimization Galapagos' discovery projects by applying broad compound profiling expertise. Your team is responsible for setting up and performing biochemical, cellular and phenotypic assays in automated and/or manual way and using a broad variety of readout systems and techniques. High quality output is key for this team.

You will supervise, organize and develop the activities of the CET team, will identify and implement the project assay cascades. In addition you will empower and guide individuals’ career development.

Job requirements

Who are you ?

  • Ph.D. followed by post-doctoral training or relevant work experience in biochemistry, cell biology or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in biochemical and cellular target and disease related in vitro assays. A previous experience in an industrial environment is and experience in team and people management, coaching and people development
  • Strong background knowledge in biochemical and cellular assay systems using state-of-the-art technologies.
  • Ability to drive multiple projects through matrix based organization and intense collaboration, ability to adapt activities priorities to challenging deliverables
  • Excellent communication (English) and organization skills
  • Autonomous, able to delegate and to empower people
