We are looking for a Senior Technician/Associate Scientist in vitro biology kidney disease – Mechelen,BE.

Scope of the job

We are looking for a senior technician/associate scientist to support our discovery efforts in chronic kidney diseases. You will play essential part in the establishment of cellular kidney disease models to enable discovery of novel disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.

Under supervision of a more senior staff member, you contribute to the design of your experiments by reading literature and protocol information, you execute experiments in an independent way, and analyse your own laboratory work. On top of this practical lab work, you will be involved in the reporting of experimental results within your team. You will dedicate most of your time to execution, analysis and documentation of cellular experiments.

Job requirements

Who are you?

  • Master’s degree (Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or equivalent) or equivalent through experience
  • You have a strong affinity for cellular biology and experience in a broad range of in vitro assay methods, including transcriptional profiling by qPCR and e.g. Quantigene
  • Experience with human primary cell culture, ideally from kidney, is a plus
  • You have good organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to work independently on a multi-day basis
  • Professional communication in English is a must, both in writing and verbal
  • A team player, enthusiastic and highly motivated with good organizational and administrative skills
  • Experience in working in an industrial setting is an advantage
