We are looking for a Senior Technician New Cellular Technologies - Leiden, NL

Scope of the job

As member of the New Cellular Technologies team, you will provide technical support in activities focused on testing and implementing novel tools for target discovery and validation. You are familiar with the most common technologies used in the lab and are able to provide technical input. In addition to practical lab work, you will be involved in other general and project related support tasks.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can contribute to the development of in-vitro assays on primary cells and cell lines under supervision of scientists in accordance with the project requirement;
  • Is enthusiastic about implementing innovative equipment, techniques or technologies.
  • Has experience with gene knock-down technologies (e.g., RNAi, CRISPR/Cas9);
  • Is responsible for the accuracy of the results and the conformity of the data. Is able to identify gaps and to implement corrective measures;
  • Is involved in analysis, reporting and discussion of experimental results within the team.


Job requirements

Who are you?

  • You have a Bachelor degree in Life Sciences with at least 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong cell culture experience is required as well as a good knowledge of running biological tests.
  • You are familiar with different types of biological material such as human or mammalian primary cells, cell lines, blood and/or other tissues.
  • You have working experience with at least some of the following technologies (luminescence- and fluorescence-based readouts, RT-qPCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, western blot, immunocytochemistry).
  • You work effectively in a team environment.
  • You have good organizational skills and the ability to provide accurate work and reports.
  • You have good communication skills in English, both in writing and verbally.
