We are looking for a Scientist Translational Sciences, Fibrosis - Romainville,FR


Scope of the job

This position gives you the opportunity to support drug discovery projects in Fibrosis disease area by providing exceptional scientific and experimental skills in an exciting and dynamic environment of a well-known successful international biotech company. In order to validate our therapeutic targets, characterize the pharmacology/ mode of action of GLPG compounds and select our proprietary compounds for further development, we expect a strong background in fibrotic diseases, as well as broad technical supports especially in gene and protein analysis. As a member of a research team, you contribute to the technical and scientific input of projects. You design, organize and realize experiments and analyze data in accordance with the project requirements and timelines. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated scientist with solid expertise in Pharmacology. You have the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and to communicate your research in cross-functional project team meetings.

Your main responsibilities will be to propose, design and analyse biological material treated, ex vivo or in vivo, with reference and internal proprietary compounds to define their mode of action, their activity on certain biological pathways, functions. In this context, you propose, develop, optimize and validate various protocols, methods necessary for your experiments based on the literature. The technical approaches apply to different types of biological material such as cells, whole blood, biological fluids, tissue explants and tissue biopsies.

You have a strong expertise in fibrotic disease, you can identify and apply the most relevant technical approaches and analytical methods for your studies and the studies in the disease area. You suggest ideas or innovation in the area of fibrosis, target biology and pharmacology.

  • Work independently in a collaborative team-oriented setting
  • Actively follow the recent literature on new theories, methods and project making sure that a broad knowledge of fibrosis pharmacology is present
  • Write reports, present complex scientific data in a clear, comprehensive manner
  • Mentor or supervise technician(s), apprentice(s) or student(s).


Job requirements

Who are you?

  • You have a PhD in Life Sciences with at least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience and track record in fibrosis diseases preferably in research of target engagement and mode of action in in vitro and in vivo models.
  • You have a knowledge in fibrosis diseases. Experience in liver or lung fibrosis is an asset.
  • You have a profound knowledge in the fields of molecular and cellular biology including most common biological pathways, as well as in the field of pharmacology
  • You are experienced in a wide range of technologies (e.g. RT-qPCR, transcriptomics, proteomics, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western Blot, multiplex assays). Experience in in vitro and in vivo pharmacology is an asset.
  • Clear ambition to learn about and implement new technologies
  • As a team player, you promote an open and supportive climate and a collaborative organization.
  • Your good presentation skills guarantee a proper communication during meetings or amongst team members.
  • Well organized, you are able to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Fluent in English, both in writing and verbally
