We are looking for a Scientist Target Modulation, Specialist in Biophysics– Mechelen,BE

Scope of the job

You will be part of a team that develops and runs biochemical, biophysical and cellular assays for pharmacological modulation of novel targets and pathways with small synthetic molecules from our drug discovery programs.

You will be in charge of measuring the interaction between the molecules and our target of interest using techniques such as SPR (Wave, Biacore), MST (Monolith), TSA and eventually others. This comprises of performing the assay development and optimizing the methodology per target; generating high quality data with compounds of interest, analysing and reporting the data in a structured manner.

On top of practical lab work, you will be involved in the coordination of our dedicated biophysical team, and in developing further the biophysical expertise within the team. In addition, finding best ways on how to represent and report data will be part of the job, such as entering data in our databases, train chemists on how to use and interpret the data and communicate clearly into project teams.,

Job requirements

Who are you?

  • PhD (biology, biochemistry, pharmacy or equivalent) or equivalent through experience
  • Expertise in Biophysical technologies (SPR, MST, DSF…) is essential. The candidate must prove knowledge in principles of the technology, assay development and data analysis
  • Experience in working in an industrial setting for more than 2 years and knowledge of protein sciences and pharmacology are an advantage
  • You are good at troubleshooting and creative in coming up with solutions
  • Professional communication in English is a must, both in writing and verbal
