We are looking for a Scientist Scale-up (temp contract - 6 months), Romainville, FR

Within the Development department based in Romainville (FR), the Scientist Scale-up is responsible for the route optimization and manufacturing of the first preclinical batch of API. The core purpose of the job is to ensure quality and timely delivery of the preclinical batch. 

The scientist will work closely with the Scale-up team Leader, the Scale-up Director as well as with the CMC drug substance Leads.


Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Manage the process research (route identification) and process development (route optimization) of the preclinical batch of API whilst taking development/upscaling feasibility requirements into account
  2. Perform searches in databases to identify the most relevant synthetic pathway
  3. Contribute to the feasibility demonstration and to the manufacturing of API (up to 1kg)
  4. Takes any corrective actions to ensure quality and timely delivery of the preclinical batch
  5. Upon request, deliver small quantities of specific impurities or intermediates
  6. Write experimental protocols, progress reports and documentary reports in English
  7. Presentation of project updates to internal clients
  8. Maintain up to date scientific and technical skills
  9. As a team player, ensure productive interactions with colleagues from the scale-up Team
  10. Fully understand and ensure strict application of safety rules and procedures in place within the organization
  11. Perform and interpret standard analyses (LCMC, NMR, Karl Fischer…). Interact with analytical team for any analytical needs on your project

Job requirements

Education

- PhD in Organic Chemistry

Experience

- 1-3 years of relevant industrial experience, preferably in an industrial setting with a quality-driven environment applying standard operating procedures

- A previous experience in scale-up is an asset

Specific Skills

- Strong knowledge in organic synthesis / experimental expertise

- Data gathering, problem solving and analytical thinking skills

- Fluent in English (speaking and writing)

- Strong organization skills, a high degree of flexibility, resilience, and assertiveness are essential for success

General and Communication Skills

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Exemplary teamwork, organizational and self-management skills

- Good computer skills and proficient with specialized software (MS Office, chemical sketchers, MestreNova...) and databases (Sci-Finder)
