We are looking for a Scientist in vitro Biology Fibrosis - Leiden,NL

 

Scope of the job

As a member of the team, you contribute to the execution as well as the scientific and strategic direction of the project. You provide expertise in Fibrosis related assays to the project team. You design and execute sassays that contribute to the new target or drug discovery projects in the field of Fibrosis and analyze data in accordance with the project requirements and timelines.


In this function you:

  • Work independently, plan, execute, interpret experiments and propose next steps in accordance to project requirements
  • Give input towards novel fibrotic disease-relevant cellular assays
  • Are able to plan and implement disease-mimicking biological assays using patient-derived (primary) cells
  • Present complex scientific data in a clear, comprehensive manner
  • Provide feedback and updates of your (and other(s)) work and results to your line manager and in project team meetings
  • Ensure smooth communication and interactions with the team members as well as other teams and all stakeholders
  • Ensure a high level scientific standard is maintained on all projects

 

Job requirements

Who are you

  • PhD in life Sciences (eg. Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Bio-engineering ) with preferentially 2 years of relevant experience in a postdoctoral setting or an industrial setting or Master in Life Sciences and at least 6-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in general molecular biology and cell biology techniques, experience in working with primary cell systems
  • Knowledge on Fibrosis, wound healing, extra-cellular matrix biology is an advantage
  • Hands on experience with gene silencing techniques is highly recommended
  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with interpretation of OMICS data and network/pathway analysis is highly preferred
