We are looking for a Scientist in Protein Sciences (Cell Biology, Biochemistry) - CDI - Romainville FR

You will be part of the Protein Sciences team of researchers that produce, purify, and characterize recombinant proteins for Galapagos’ drug discovery programs. These high-quality protein tools are used for various applications including biochemical and cellular assays, High-Throughput Screenings, biophysical (MST, SPR, nanoDSF…) and structural (X-ray Crystallography, Cryo-EM) approaches. Within the Protein Sciences team, a diverse set of expertise and technologies are present in the fields of molecular biology, cell biology, protein purification, biophysical and structural protein characterization. The team also provides DNA tools, binding assays, and structural biology support.

Your role:

• You will contribute to our research work by setting-up the expression and/ or purification process of new therapeutical target proteins.
• Together with your colleagues, you will plan, organize and execute our cell culture activities.
• You will provide critical analysis of generated data and if needed propose alternatives.
• You like scientific-technical troubleshooting and are curious to scout for new technologies, evaluate their value for our work and contribute to their implementation.
• You will participate in general laboratory management and organization.
• Read literature and protocol information, prepare reports and present results to the team.

• Master/Engineer degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in Protein Sciences or a PhD degree with expertise in cell biology and biochemistry.
• Strong background in cell culture, standard cell biology & analysis technologies.
• Hands-on experience in protein expression (insect/ mammalian cell expression) is required.
• Additional experience in protein purification (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion chromatography) or biophysical characterization of proteins is advantageous.
• You work precisely, have a critical mindset when looking at scientific data and maintain accurate records.
• You are flexible, autonomous, and take initiative.
• You are keen to work within and together with a multi-disciplinary team in a result-driven, international environment.
