We are looking for a Regional Value & Market Access Manager for Germany!

Scope of the job

The Regional Value & Market Access Manager is our Market Access, Contracting and Reimbursement specialist on regional level.

He / She is the first point of contact to public organizations, such as Statutory Health Insurances (Gesetzliche Krankenkassen), Associations of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Kassenärztliche Vereinigungen) as well as other regional stakeholders and expands Galapagos’ network to them. In addition, the Regional Value & Market Access Manager also engages with healthcare professionals, such as office-based physicians and physicians’ professional associations (e.g. Ärztliche Berufsverbände, Medizinische Fachgesellschaften) to discuss Market Access related issues.

Besides being a partner to external stakeholders, the Regional Value & Market Access Manager constantly analyzes the regional Market Access environment and translates it into clear commercial strategies and tactics. He / She aligns, empowers and coaches the cross-functional team against the background of regional prescription containment measurements as well as shapes the Galapagos contracting and partnering activities.

The Regional Value & Market Access Manager will be an integral part of the cross-functional Galapagos team and key driver in enriching everyday business activities with Market Access intelligence and executive power. He/she will report to the Value & Market Access Leader Germany.

Your role

  • Manage contacts to public accounts and increase Galapagos’ regional network to them.
  • Analyze regional healthcare environment and regulations influencing Galapagos’ business; translate analysis into business strategies and tactics, drive and participate in their cross-functional execution.
  • Develop (innovative) contract concepts (rebate and selective contracts); negotiate, implement and manage contracts.
  • Train and coach Galapagos internal stakeholders with respect to Market Access intelligence; with a focus on Sales Representatives empower Galapagos team to understand and handle prescription hurdles.
  • Innovate and bring in ideas with regards to Market Access intelligence, execution, and partnerships.
  • Support cross-functional Galapagos team as a Market Access partner; offer tailored support and demonstrate effective communication and negotiation skills with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Job requirements

Who are you?

  • Typically requires a Master or equivalent degree preferably in sciences, pharmacy, medicine, public health, public health policy or business-related disciplines and 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in particular previous Market Access experience and experience in working with relevant public accounts, health authorities and/or relevant governmental bodies.
  • If you do not have a scientific academical background, you should be able to fulfill the requirements according to § 75 AMG.
  • Must be able and allowed to credibly discuss pharmaceutical/medical product details with public accounts and healthcare professionals.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of the growing influence of public accounts on the pharmaceutical marketplace. Familiarity with regional contracts, agreements, and drug steering features on national and regional level required, as well as ability to analyze regional contracts/agreements/features in respect to their influence on Galapagos’ business and development of strategies for win-win solutions based on these analyses.
  • Negotiation experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel as dictated by business need; home office based plus attendance phases in Galapagos office.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with a high level of autonomy and independence.
  • Proven expertise in relationship building skills is required.
  • Good analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and understand complex issues and problems and interpret information in a manner that provides appropriate recommendations to senior management and sales representatives.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word.
  • Experience in inflammatory & fibrotic diseases desirable, but not a must.
  • Fluency in conversational and written English preferred.
  • Proven record of success in a similar role
