For our site in ROMAINVILLE, France we are looking for a

Principal Scientist- Research Fellow in Medicinal Chemistry (M/F, permanent contract, full time)

 

Scope of the job

You will work in an exciting and dynamic environment of a well-known successful international biotech company. To achieve our ambitious Drug Discovery plan for 2025 we are expanding our activities beyond small molecules and aim at developing new modalities. Within our multi-site Medicinal Chemistry Department you will be part of the Hit finding group and will be located in Romainville in the neighborhood of Paris (France).

We are expecting the individual to have a major impact in the growth of our Medicinal Chemistry

 

Your role

  • You will be responsible for providing high quality hits with potential to deliver clinical candidate compounds for Galapagos’ drug discovery portfolio.
  • You will lead teams, provide scientific direction and prioritize work within the hit finding team.

 

Job requirements

 Who are you ?

  •  You have a Ph.D. in organic/medicinal chemistry followed by post-doctoral training or relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with proven track record of Medicinal Chemistry contributions and project delivery
  • Experience in leading medicinal chemistry teams and work with Contract research organizations
  • Strong background knowledge in organic and medicinal chemistry.
  • Hit finding experience in small molecules and new drug modalities is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of biology allowing interactions with biologists and rationalization of medicinal chemistry strategy.
  • Ability to bring new ideas and have strong creativity to tackle challenging issue
  • Maintain a strong awareness of the relevant scientific literature and contemporary laboratory practices
  • Ability to adapt in terms of novel priorities and to make constructive recommendations
  • Team player with objective driven mind-set
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Excellent command of the English language is a must
  • Autonomous and able to delegate and empower people
