We are looking for an ITS Senior System Engineer (AWS) - Romainville, FR


Scope of the job
As ITS Senior System Engineer, you play an important role in understanding the needs and solving problems of Galapagos’ internal clients when technology forms an obstruction in achieving their goals. Consequently, you have an impact on the efficiency of our fast growing organisation as a whole. This is an opportunity for a strong communicator and thorough problem solver to join our international team to provide IT-based services to all employees across the company. You will have a dual role in both Infrastructure and Service Desk Support. The position reports to the ITS Infrastructure Manager and has a “dotted” reporting line to the ITS Service Desk Manager.

In your role within Infrastructure, you will :

  • Set up, support, document, monitor and maintain the local ITS infrastructure in Romainville in close cooperation with the ITS infrastructure team in Mechelen.

In your role within Service Desk you will : 

  • Install and maintain client software, drivers, patches and upgrades; and deliver high level support (including remote support activities).
  • Support the agreed Service Levels with our Business.
  • Be the First Point of Contact for Service Request Escalations.
  • Follow the Procedure of Single Point of Entry for logging of Customer Service Requests.
  • Create and Maintain Procedures, Checklists and Documentation.
  • Minimize recurring Service Requests through proactive improvement steps.

Job requirements

Who are you?

You have a Bachelor or Master Degree or equivalent through experience with more than 5 years of relevant experience. As a tech savvy engineer you are able to handle multiple issues concurrently and can easily adapt to new circumstances and technologies. You are solution oriented, proactive and client focused with a good knowledge of the English & French language. Any other European language is an asset.


You have the following technical knowledge:

  • VMWare Infrastructure
  • Backup and DR solutions
  • Firewalls and VPN
  • Routing and switching
  • DNS and DHCP
  • Microsoft servers and AD environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft cloud (O365 / Azure)
  • Knowledge of AWS
  • Linux servers
