Pleased to meet you, we are Galapagos, a dynamic fast growing Biotech company with offices in Europe in Belgium (Mechelen), France (Romainville), the Netherlands (Leiden) and in US, Boston.
We’re in the business of changing lives. In our quest to discover and develop life-improving medicines we go where no one has ever gone before. In every challenge we face, we see new opportunities. We want to challenge the impossible. We need thought leaders and rapid thinkers, entrepreneurs in spirit and status quo-fighters. Collaborative innovators and perseverant idealists. We need the best-in-class. In other words, we need you: The ‘make-it-happeners’.
We are looking for an intern for our Scale-up departement.
The Scale-up department is part of the Galapagos development organization and is based at Romainville (France). The missions of the team are to develop and improve synthetic routes on small scale towards Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) and to manufacture 500g to 1kg of API. The scale-up team activities are mainly focused on organic chemistry, optimizing reactions, using the latest technologies to prepare and characterize compounds.
You will participate to the identification of suitable synthetic routes on small scale (100mg or less).
Following identification of a suitable route, you will adapt it to prepare intermediates on larger scale (10-50g) therefore acquiring specific knowledge on upscaling reactions.
You will perform analysis to monitor reaction progress (HPLC, TLC) and characterize final products (HPLC, NMR…)
You will also interact with colleagues from the Medicinal chemistry and the Analytical departments. As an example, you will present your work during dedicated chemistry meetings.
4/6 months internship starting between February and April 2020
You are currently in Master 2 or in an Engineering School.
You are interested by organic chemistry, and willing to apply your knowledge to solve chemistry problems. You show good organisation skills and are a team player.
This internship is not a temp position and must be compliant with French laws (student with an agreement with university).
