To support the start-up of our commercial operations in Germany (Munich) and set up a whole new local operation company, we are looking for a Human Resources Country Lead Germany


Scope of the job

As the HR Country Lead in Germany you partner with business leaders at all levels to support developing the organization and manage talent in line with Galapagos’ growth business strategy. Through workforce insights and analytics you strengthen and empower the human capital at Galapagos and you ensure the execution of all HR operations. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to make an impact in shaping the organisation in Germany.


What is your role?

You will be managing topics like on boarding, performance management, engagement, talent & learning and total rewards in close collaboration with local and corporate partners. You think global and act local to make sure that the global strategy is translated into local practices. Therefore you will also closely work together with the HR expert teams in Head office (Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards….) to ensure alignment with all processes and the HR approach. In this collaboration, you actively contribute to the design and implementation of local HR processes and policies and innovative (local) HR projects.

You act as the primary contact for day-to-day questions of the German Galapagos colleagues. In addition, you will be the ‘SPOC’ for local partners (payroll agency, insurance companies,...) and ensure that all HR operations and payroll runs smoothly. To facilitate the start-up of the new German affiliate you assure general HR related administration. Moreover you make sure all on boarding of new staff goes smoothly and actively support this process together with the HR team and the relevant hiring managers.
You manage employee and labour relations and develop strong and trusted relations with colleagues and stakeholders (incl. works council). Next to that, to ensure the well-being of the people at Galapagos, you focus on engagement, driving our values & health initiatives in your area and you will manage our health provider collaboration.

Job requirements

Who are you?

Our ideal candidate is a ‘do-er’ and ‘thinker’ with at least 6 years of experience in HR in preferably life science or biotech organization. With a true start-up mentality and a no-nonsense approach, you make it happen in Germany.  Agility is your middle name and you can work in a fast growing and changing environment. Your creative mind helps you to think out-of-the-box and your curiosity helps you understand Galapagos business and manage innovation in HR and people processes. To make sure you connect with the whole Galapagos community you communicate excellent in both English and German. You have a Bachelor or preferably a Master degree in relevant studies (HR, Business Administrative, Law, etc). Strong in analytics and with a solution driven mind-set, you are able to support your business in all people related matters driving operational excellence.
