We are looking for a full time HR Officer - Leiden, NL.

Scope of the job

Galapagos is looking for a hands-on HR Payroll and Administration Officer to strengthen the HR team in delivering excellent service to our Leiden employees. The position will focus on full operational support according to the corporate HR policies and local regulations.

The job requires:

  • Assuring accurate payroll in line with local laws and regulations
  • Ensure quality of employee records in all HR related databases
  • Administer job-offers and labor contracts
  • Supporting the on boarding of new staff (e.g. on boarding session and tool)
  • Acting as a primary contact for day-to-day related questions of staff
  • Overseeing our benefits i.e. lease cars/fleet, insurances, pension
  • Driving mature, pragmatic HR operational processes
  • Providing support in general HR projects (e.g. HR system, organizing training)
  • Environment, Health and Safety
  • Absenteeism administration and health management initiatives
  • Supporting RI&E reporting and action plan

The HR Officer will report to the HR Manager based in Leiden.


Who are you?

The ideal candidate has/is:

  • A Bachelor or Master degree with at least 3 years’ experience in payroll and HR administration. Knowledge of Cobra is an important advantage
  • Working knowledge of (Dutch) employment, tax and social security legislation
  • Working knowledge of benefits administration i.e. fleet and (pension) insurances
  • Basic knowledge of HR processes
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and verbally, both in Dutch and English
  • Excellent proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Able to work accurately
