In the coming years we will grow significantly in the Netherlands in Research, Development, Commercial, Medical Affairs and Shared Services. To support our growing organization we are looking for a full time HR Business Partner in Leiden. 

Scope of the job

As HR Business Partner, you will be accountable to optimize and drive our people approach by supporting our employees and partnering with our managers on topics like on boarding, performance management, engagement, talent & learning and total rewards. You will do this in close collaboration with local and corporate partners to ensure the well-being of the people at Galapagos in order to deliver our business ambition in terms of innovation. As we are a fast growing organization, you have the chance to take a lead role in maturing our HR processes and policies.

Your role

  • You are a trusted partner for managers and employees to drive the local people agenda related to on boarding, performance management, engagement, talent & learning and total rewards.
  • You assist managers in making balanced business decisions while advocating for appropriate employee interventions.
  • You manage employee and labour relations and develop strong and trusted relations with colleagues and stakeholders (incl works council).
  • You work closely together with HR Business Partners/HR Managers, the HR experts in Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards as well as Talent Development to ensure a business oriented, state of the art HR approach.
  • You identify employee and management development needs and ensure they get integrated into the Talent development plan by our Head of Learning Agility.
  • You actively contribute to the design and implementation of local HR processes and policies and innovative (local) HR projects.
  • You promote a no-nonsense culture and a ‘can-do’ mentality and act as an example.
  • You enable leaders to manage people and teams with high quality through empowerment.
  • You focus on engagement, driving our values & health initiatives to ensure the well-being of the people at Galapagos in your area and will manage our health provider collaboration.
  • Through workforce insights and analytics you strengthen and empower the human capital at Galapagos in Leiden.

The position reports to the HR Manager based in Leiden.

Job requirements

Who are you?

The ideal candidate has:

  • A Bachelor or Master degree with at least 6 years’ experience in an HR generalist or business partner role. Experience supporting a Research population is preferred
  • Experience in a fast changing, international environment
  • Working knowledge of (Dutch) employment, tax and social security legislation

You represent the ‘human’ in your title and combine this with a strong business mindset. Your middle name is ‘innovation’ and you are able to think out of the box to drive a futureproof HR organisation. You are a problem solver ‘pur sang’ and you think in solutions. You get energy from the opportunity to optimize or create something from scratch. You act local and think global.
