We are looking for a Group Leader Late Medicinal Chemistry, Romainville,FR


Scope of the job
As group leader in this area, you are highly qualified in Medicinal Chemistry and you are able to interpret and analyze data in order to give strategic guidance to the project team. The Group Leader of Medicinal Chemistry is part of a leadership team in a multi-site Medicinal Chemistry Department.

More in detail you will:

Lead medicinal chemistry teams to successfully project progression from HtL to PCC nomination
Actively collaborate with other areas of expertise to bring the project to the next stage
• Provide scientific direction and mentoring other junior leaders of the Medicinal Chemistry Department
• Provide support to the Head of the Department in proposing objectives, resources and department strategies
• Motivate and guide career development for your team members
• Act as a project leader of one the late discovery projects


You will work together with all members of the Medicinal Chemistry Department, but will also have interactions with a variety of members of other departments within Discovery. Occasionally, it is expected to interact with the Head of the Drug Innovation Area and the Head of the Disease Area.

      Job requirements

      Who are you?

      This job requires a Ph.D. in organic/medicinal chemistry followed by post-doctoral training or relevant working experience. You have a minimum of 12 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a proven track record of Medicinal Chemistry contributions and project delivery and a minimum of 5 years of experience as a manager. Experience in leading medicinal chemistry projects as a project leader is a plus.

      You are able to bring new ideas and use your creativity to tackle challenging issues. You help maintain a strong awareness of the relevant scientific literature and contemporary laboratory practices. You can adapt in terms of novel priorities and are able to make constructive recommendations. Your excellent leadership and communication skills help you to delegate, motivate and empower people. Next to this, you are a team player with an objective-driven mindset. An excellent command of the English language is a must.
