We are looking for a Global Mobility Specialist – Mechelen,BE

Scope of the role

Together with the Global Mobility Specialist in place, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end mobility experiences across relocation, immigration and mobility tax to ensure a seamless mobility experience for our expat, inpat, frequent traveller and secondment population.

Within this role you will work closely together with the Global Mobility Specialist in place and become her sparring partner related to the following work fields:

  • Managing day-to-day interactions with our relocation and mobility vendors to ensure a smooth experience for our people
  • Responding to queries related to tax, immigration, and relocation raised by our employees, provide 1:1 consultations with our employees and partner with the local HR teams to resolve cases
  • Reviewing and supporting escalation and exception requests in line with our Mobility policy
  • Keeping the overview up-to-date of existing expats and the inflow of newcomers in the different steps of the relocation and hiring process
  • Collecting the necessary documents and attestations and ensuring timely completion of the applications for the necessary permits and tax files
  • Regularly reviewing our relocation, removal and secondment policies
  • Partnering cross-departmentally to develop process and system improvements
  • Following up any changes in the local legislation of the countries Galapagos is operating in and adapting our mobility policy and practices if necessary
  • Supporting ad hoc projects as assigned

Job requirements

You are a real team player and have

  • Preferably a Master's degree with 5-6 years of experience in tax, global mobility, relocation and immigration
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to effectively and timely manage a diverse workload
  • Professional communication skills in Dutch and English, both in writing and verbally
  • Experience working with or in support of diverse communities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of global mobility lifecycle processes and methodologies
  • Experience operating in a collaborative, hands-on environment
  • Ability to think through end-to-end solutions to improve the processes and plan around any blind spots through the mobility lifecycle
  • Ability to handle complex, ambiguous situations exercising judgment and critical thinking skills – assertive and helpful attitude
