For our site in Mechelen, Belgium we are looking for an Accountant Accounts Payable.

Scope of the job

You will report to the Accounts Payable Team lead and will provide support to the Head Quarters shared service Accounting team of Galapagos NV in Mechelen while respecting internal rules and policies in a SOX-compliant environment.

Your role:

  • Achieve KPI goals by daily management of invoices in SAP VIM including follow up and troubleshooting
  • Intensive collaboration with stakeholders such as Controlling, Procurement, Internal Controls, Treasury and Suppliers
  • Perform weekly payments and manage supplier open items
  • Contribute to the quality of SOX controls and documentation requirements of the Accounting function
  • Perform any other ad hoc task as assigned
  • Support enhancements and introduce adjustments to the current P2P process, potentially support roll out of VIM in newly launched countries

Job requirements

Who are you?

    • A bachelor or master degree in finance/accounting with a minimum of 2 years on relevant experience
    • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP4HANA and VIM, is an asset
    • Used to working with MS office, especially with Excel and Outlook
    • Fluent in English and Dutch (written & oral)
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment
    • Being a team player with strong interpersonal skills, solid written and verbal communication
    • Work accurately and have attention for detail
    • Possess a critical and analytical mind
    • Ability to organize, multitask and execute internal controls
