Scope of the job


The Value & Market Access (V&MA) function at Galapagos will be responsible for demonstrating and communicating the value of Galapagos and our products to ensure that patients have timely access to treatments that improve and extend their lives. This person will lead the payer strategy for one or more of our pipeline products and will drive strategic decision making in cross-functional teams for launch and pipeline products that aims to make a true difference in the lives of patients.



Your role


  • Develop and implement pricing and market access strategy through collaboration with Medical, Health Economics, Policy, and Commercial colleagues
  • Assist in alliance management activities, lifecycle planning, and local market access planning
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding affiliate needs for market access success; coordination and leadership of affiliate-level V&MA team members – in particular within Benelux
  • Conduct pricing and access related competitive intelligence and market research on the competitor landscape
  • Lead the pricing strategy implementation, pricing approval process and ensure proper pricing governance for Galapagos-owned territories
  • Deliver a range of payer strategies and insight to ensure a strong understanding of the evolving payer and competitor landscape and to keep the executive and cross-functional teams abreast of market events
  • Identify global payer needs and design global payer research to understand primary value drivers and requirements for early access
  • Collaborate with Medical to ensure a comprehensive data generation plan that meets payer evidentiary needs
  • Develop payer strategies and communicate clear and well thought-out recommendations through strong leadership across health economic and policy realms
  • Identify key objections and barriers, extract key points from complex documents, and understand local payer discussions, linking key messages to scientific background and material
  • Lead the development of payer strategies in close collaboration with clinical, medical, global product strategy, publications, and affiliate colleagues


Who are you?


You are a professional preferably with an MBA or other graduate degrees. You have at least 3 years global or regional industry or consulting experience and preferably at least 3 years of experience in the value, market access, or pricing functions. You are someone with superior analytical skills who can figure out tough problems and to craft thoughtful, clear, and logical strategy plans that act as central roadmaps towards payer success. Experience in inflammation a plus. You have excellent project management skills, in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated ability to lead multiple workstreams and priorities. You should have demonstrated an ability to make decisions in the face of uncertainty and to chart the course for smart payer strategies. Last but not least you have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
