We are looking for a Senior Specialist Osteoarthritis Target Discovery & Validation – Leiden,NL

 

Scope of the job

We are looking for an accomplished and highly motivated scientist with proven expertise in Osteoarthritis to strengthen our Target Discovery & Validation team. The team is composed of researchers that identify and validate novel drug targets in specific disease-relevant cellular assays.

You will help supervise and organize the day-to-day activities of the team, help to maintain and further develop team expertise in disease specific technologies and cellular models and give scientific input for the project.

Within the project, you will actively contribute to the strategy and design and set up of the experiments. You are expected to perform lab experiments independently and as part of a team. Additionally, you will document your work in the Lab Notebooks according to guidelines and report and present your work to your project manager and relevant Therapeutic Area Leaders.

Requirements

Who are you?

  • Ph.D. followed by post-doctoral training and relevant work experience in osteoarthritis or  related disease areas
  • Minimum 2+ years post doc experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company with proven expertise in osteoarthritis
  • Demonstrated expertise in establishing in vitro assays and in culturing human primary chondrocytes and/or cell lines in 2D and 3D models (preferably in a high-throughput format)
  • A previous experience in an industrial environment is preferred
  • Ability to drive multiple projects in a matrix-based organization and to adapt activities towards challenging deliverables.
  • Ability to propose new approaches and creative solutions for scientific questions and challenges
  • You are a team player with an objective driven mind-set, enthusiastic and highly motivated
  • You have excellent communication and organization skills
  • Professional communication in English is a must, both in writing and verbal
  • Autonomous and able to delegate and empower people
