Scope of the job


At Galapagos we create value through science putting the patient first.   We believe science communication is key and The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) plays an important role in this by representing the science of our company through non-promotional scientific exchange directly to our customers and stakeholders. As an MSL you will be part of a unique journey to establish Galapagos as a credible and scientific partner.

Your role


As MSL for Galapagos you will start in the therapeutic area of rheumatology where rheumatoid arthritis is the lead indication but you will also represent various other rheumatology indications that are part of the Galapagos portfolio. These other indications will become increasingly more important as the development program proceeds. Once you have established your presence in the rheumatology community you will also start to engage with stakeholders in the field of gastroenterology where the lead indication will be ulcerative colitis and the development program also provides in the potential expansion of indications. Galapagos wants to become the scientific partner of choice for our stakeholders and accomplish our aspiration to create value through science.  Ultimately you should be able to provide the most relevant and balanced data to the healthcare community with appropriate context to optimize patient care...

As MSL at Galapagos you will mostly be field-based and act as a medical professional. Your primary responsibility is to engage in non-promotional peer-to-peer communication & provide medical/scientific information to health care professionals based on cutting-edge scientific exchange and services oriented towards the stakeholder’s professional interests & needs.  You respect local regulations, law and local industry codes and provide clear insight to stakeholders and colleagues through appropriate channels. 

You represent Medical Affairs at local or regional non-promotional Medical events (e.g. medical congresses and Symposia.  You may collaborate in the coordination of pre-event scientific information and post-event summaries. 

You are responding to unsolicited requests for medical, scientific, pipeline or marketed product information or indications utilizing appropriate approved scientific materials.  You also respond (one-to-one) to unsolicited requests for information on company research and/or grant activities by providing appropriate company resources for grants, sponsored clinical trial involvement, investigator study programs and outcome research.

You participate in the development of Medical Affairs Plans (MAP) and implementation of activities identified in the MAP;

You support in the identification of potential study investigators for sponsored studies, if requested.

You provide insights internally on the scientific gaps, ideas and other topics gathered from scientific exchange to inform company strategies and tactics.  


Who are you?

You have excellent verbal and written communications skills in French and in English. 

You have a strong scientific baseline knowledge in therapeutic area or related areas.  

You have a master degree (or PHD) in Medical or Biomedical science.  

You enjoy communication and have strong, confident and engaging presentation skills.   

You have the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization  

You preferably have a few years of experience in a field based medical role.   

You are expected to be agile when needed.   

You are a true team player to ‘make it happen’ together.
