Due to our exciting partnership with Gilead Sciences Inc. we are looking for an IBD Medical Director.

The position will be based in one of our European locations BE, NL, FR, CH. 

 

                                               

Scope of the job

 

Within our Medical Affairs division, the IBD Medical Director will support the definition of global medical strategy and plans; work with the Global Medical Lead (GML) on in-year implementation of the global medical strategy; interact with external stakeholders in alignment with customer needs and medical strategy; maintain the knowledge base.

 

Your role

 

  • Work with the Global Medical Lead (GML) for inflammation to lead the development and execution of the multi-year global medical strategy for the specified Product/Disease Area) as well as the medical plan with focus on Europe for pre-launch preparation of filgotinib
  • Collaborate with commercial to ensure aligned and medically appropriate commercial strategy, planning and execution.
  • Lead the development of the in-year medical tactical plan and budget for the global initiatives with a focus on the EU for filgotinib in gastroenterology
  • Planning, designing and managing global and overseeing global/regional/local medical Advisory Boards
  • Providing medical review of Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) proposals and other grants through the grant approval process as well as support grant programs
  • Supporting the  management, design and execution of clinical studies (phase IIIb/IV, disease registries, epidemiological studies, outcomes surveys, etc.) in close collaboration with Clinical Development  
  • Per medical strategy, establish and/or enhance partnerships with key academic institutions and develop relationships with key thought leaders; establish appropriate partnerships with external experts in areas of scientific interest
  • Represent Medical Affairs at internal and external meetings
  • Serve as a expert & key medical resource on the disease area, pipeline and specific products
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of global pharmaceutical regulations, guidelines, codes of practices and internal policies related to all medical activities
  • As directed by the GML, develop, conduct, or participate in therapeutic training programs for internal departments

 

Requirements

Who are you ?

 

We are looking for a new colleague in our global Medical Affairs division with a solid medical/scientific background and 7-10yrs experience within the therapeutic area of gastroenterology / >5 years of experience in medical affairs is required.

A genuine interest to advance science and healthcare in these areas to ultimately meet patient’s needs is mandatory. You are analytical to optimize data interpretation but also well capable to present data in a clear way both in writing as well as verbally and tailored to your audience. You are a team player with an open mind set who “dares to try” and can easily shift gears as needed. Experience leading project teams at the brand or disease area levels in country, regional or global organizations is preferred.

Creating a medical strategy as well as initiatives and implementing those is something you enjoy and can be accountable for. When working with partners you are able to clearly represent the medical department of our company. You are honest and firm when it comes down to scientific and clinical data and will always keep in mind what it means for a patient with everything you do.

Working in an international environment, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
