We are looking for a Head Facilities Management

                                               

Scope of the job

 

The Head Facility Management is responsible for all facilities-related services and processes that enable efficient, effective and safe operations of all Galapagos laboratories and offices mainly located in Mechelen (B), Paris (F) and Leiden (NL) and of the satellite offices in Basel (CH) and Boston (US).

 

Your role

 

As a Head Facility Management you are the ultimate organizer, making sure that the organization has the most suitable working environment for its employees and their activities. Whilst you will demonstrate leadership over the facility team members spread across several of our sites, you will also provide vision and input to higher management on the future workplace strategy. 

You will be involved in the realization of a future head quarters building for our operations in Mechelen (B).

 

Your responsibilities will be both on a day-to-day operational and of a strategic point of view, being:

 

  • Galapagos' premises meet the business needs while they comply with all legislation, their health and safety requirements are met and their required documentation (under the format of policies, procedures, guidelines or other) is available
  • Interfaces with relevant business managers, for work plan promotion and implementation, are developed and maintained
  • All technical systems are maintained and operated in line with environmental guidelines and exploitation permits and all equipment documentation is up-to-date
  • Business continuity and emergency response plans are available and compliant;
  • Central services such as security, cleaning, logistics, waste disposal and recycling are put in place, oversight on the execution thereof is performed according to service level KPI’s;
  • Oversight on the work of contractors executing facility related activities is performed;
  • Future facilities expansion projects are managed, in line with strategic business objectives;
  • Continuous improvement efforts are in place
  • Strategic planning occurs at the local as well as international level and in accordance with the company’s strategy and needs
  • Facility related budget for both operational and capital expenditure is developed, managed and monitored

We offer a multicultural and very dynamic work environment where virtual communication tools are commonly used for meetings.  You are able to speak different languages (English is the main language for all internal communication) and gain experience with different IT tools and platforms.

Requirements

Who are you ?

 

  • You have obtained a Master’s degree in Facility Management, Logistics, or Engineering or equivalent and have 10-15 years experience in Facility Management. Experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company could be an asset.
  • Successfully lead international teams of facility staff by applying your well-developed management skills.  
  • You have a multilingual education (fluent in English both in speaking and in writing is a must, fluent in Dutch and French is desired).
  • Managed company general services in an international setting and you have experience with outsourced facility contract management.
  • Proven the ability to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders that are relevant to the endeavours your team is taking.
  • Initiated, managed, and successfully implemented significant change processes aiming at improving existing ways of working and/or methodologies.
  • Experience with identification of facility management related risks and defining ways to mitigate these risks and/or resolve complex problems.
  • You master a range of information technologies that can be applied to manage the operations of your team and your projects.
