We are looking for an Associate Scientist Immunology - Target Discovery & Validation – Leiden, NL

This is a temporary position for the duration of 9 months.


Scope of the job

You will work in an exciting and dynamic environment of a well-known successful international biotech company. You will be part of a team that aims to discover new therapeutic targets in the field of Autoimmune Diseases and will participate in the development of disease-relevant assays and the discovery and characterization of new therapeutic targets.

Within the project, you will actively contribute to the design and set up of your experiments. You are expected to perform lab experiments independently and as part of a team, following a detailed protocol or guidance provided by your manager and using multiple techniques and readout systems.

You will perform the analysis of your experiments and you interpret your own data. Additionally, you will document your work in the Lab Notebooks according to guidelines and report and present your work to your project manager.


Who are you?

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Biology or related sciences with research experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company, in in vitro immunology and/or immune diseases.
  • Experience with immune cell biology such as macrophages, dendritic cells, T cells
  • Experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease or Rheumatoid Arthritis is a plus.
  • You have experience with in vitro cell biology techniques (luminescent and fluorescent readouts, immunostaining, ELISA, qPCR, FACS) and in culturing human primary and/or cell lines.
  • Experience with high-throughput assays in automated set-up is considered a plus.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as good command in English (writing and speaking).
