We are looking for an (Associate) Scientist Fibrotic Diseases for our Target Discovery & Validation department.

This position gives you the opportunity to work in an exciting and dynamic environment of a well-known successful international biotech company. You will be part of a team that aims to discover new therapeutic targets in the field of Fibrotic Diseases. You will participate in the development of disease-relevant assays and the discovery and characterization of new therapeutic targets.

The team is composed of researchers that identify and validate novel drug targets in disease-relevant cellular assays. You will help coordinate and run the day-to-day activities of the team, help to maintain and further develop disease specific technologies and cellular models and give scientific input for the project.

Within the project, you will actively contribute to the design and set up of the experiments. You are expected to perform lab experiments independently and as part of a team. Additionally, you will document your work in the Lab Notebooks according to guidelines and report and present your work to your project manager.


Who are you?

  • You have a Master or PhD in Life Sciences and proven research experience in fibrotic diseases.
  • Experience in Systemic Sclerosis or Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a plus.
  • Experience with screening of CRISPR, siRNA or shRNA libraries is a plus.
  • You have a profound knowledge of biological pathways involved in the key events of fibrosis pathogenesis and disease progression.
  • You are able to plan and implement disease-mimicking biological assays using patient-derived cells (e.g., endothelial cells, fibroblasts/myofibroblasts).
  • You have good organizational and communication skills and can take the lead to coordinate activities within a research team.
  • You bring new ideas and have a strong creativity to tackle challenges issues.
  • You are an excellent team player with objective driven mind-set.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
